Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s plea to cancel bail of PTI Chief Imran Khan in prohibited funding case.
Two-member bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri conducted hearing on plea. Court also rejected request to cancel bail of co-accused Tariq Shafi. FIA had filed an application in IHC on February 28 against banking court’s decision to grant bail to PTI Chief and appealed court to annul decision as it was “Against law”. During hearing, FIA Special Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi argued that Imran Khan has not yet been interrogated by agency in case, asking court to cancel his bail. IHC Chief Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani asked if money laundering allegations in FIR were against Arif Naqvi and Imran Khan or Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was recipients of funds. FIA counsel said that Imran Khan in recent interview admitted that he received funds for charity purposes but used them for political activities. Justice Kayani inquired that if money was used by political party then how it became personal belonging. FIA ??lawyer said it was a crime to send charity money through someone else’s foreign account.
