ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted fourteen-day protective bail to PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan in corruption case registered by anti-corruption in Dera Ghazi Khan. Court accepted bail against surety bonds worth Rs 25,000 and directed petitioner to approach relevant court within said time period.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard bail petition of Imran Khan who appeared before court in personal capacity along with lawyers. Petitioner’s lawyer prayed court to grant three-week protective bail to his client and stop authorities from arresting him. Chief Justice remarked that fourteen days bail was enough for petitioner to approach relevant court. Earlier, registrar office raised objections against petition of Imran Khan. It said that petition should have been moved to Lahore High Court (LHC) and second objection was related to signatures of lawyer. IHC’s court-II took up case for hearing along with objections of registrar office. Lawyer said that case couldn’t be filed before LHC as his client had to arrive Islamabad for appearance before court.
Court removed objections and shifted case to court of Chief Justice IHC for further hearing. Anti-Corruption Establishment DG Khan nominated five accused including Imran Khan, Uzma Khan, Usman Buzdar, Ahad Majeed and Patwari Asghar in FIR for conducting non-transparent land purchase deal on behalf of PTI Chairman’s sister.
