IHC grants interim bail to Imran Khan in seven cases

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted interim bail till April 16 to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in seven different cases filed against him in different police stations of federal capital. These case were filed against Imran Khan following clashes at Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) on March 18 when Imran Khan had reached there to appear in Toshakhana case.
Division bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard case. Imran Khan, who arrived from Lahore, appeared before court to secure pre-arrest bail in different cases.
Barrister Salman Safdar appeared for Imran Khan. During hearing, Imran Khan came to rostrum, however, Chief Justice Farooq directed him to stay seated. After securing interim bail, Imran Khan left high court. On Monday morning, Imran Khan’s lawyer had filed petition in IHC seeking pre-arrest bail in multiple cases registered in different police stations of federal capital.
Petition had requested IHC to stop government from arresting PTI chief in these cases, as these cases were registered on political grounds. During appearance of Imran Khan before court, heavy contingent of police was deployed in and outside IHC premises.
