IHC extends date for not shifting natural gas to RLNG

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) for not shifting natural gas to RLNG and severing gas connections of busineeses. Islamabad High Court while hearing petition came up for seeking court’s orders for not shifting natural gas to RLNG and stopping severing of gas connection of restaurants, hotels and catering associations, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiayani ordered that SNGPL neither sever gas connection nor can shift gas till December 2. Court gave one week time to OGRA and SNGPL in connection with preparation of case.
Petitioner Farooq Chaudhry President Restaurant Association appeared in court along with Imran Shafiq. Imran Shafiq advocate told court daily wage labours would be affected if commercial consumers are shifted to RLNG forcibly. As per federal government policy gas supply be ensured to domestic and commercial consumers on top priority, he added. Hearing of case was adjourned till December 2.
