ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has called upon caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar to appear on November 29 regarding the missing Baloch students' case.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani presided over the hearing, focusing on the enforcement of Baloch Enforced Disappearance Commission's suggestions and dismissing a report submitted by the ministerial committee tasked with locating missing individuals.
The judge notified the prime minister's summons and also stated plans to summon the interior and defence ministers. He underscored that the court had assumed a task that typically falls under the executive's responsibility.
Addressing concerns, the judge queried the possibility of escalating the matter to the United Nations and its potential consequences for the country's reputation. Despite the additional attorney general's plea against summoning the PM and ministers, the judge stressed the severity of the issue, emphasizing that people were disappearing.
Highlighting the importance of Balochistan's rights, the judge set a one-week deadline for implementing Baloch Students Commission recommendations and locating 55 missing students. Failure to comply would result in the Prime Minister's mandated appearance in court.
