‘IGP Sindh chairs high-level meeting on law, order’
20,000 CCTV CAMERAS LINKED TO POLICE SYSTEM IN KARACHI POLICE STATIONS UPGRADED TO E-TAGGING FACILITY

KARACHI: Some 20,000 private CCTV cameras have been linked to police system in Karachi, whereas all police stations were upgraded to e-tagging facility. Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired high-level session to review law and order situation in metropolis and overall steps taken by police force to curb crime rate.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) Javed Akhtar Odho briefed session and said that all police stations of metropolis were upgraded to e-tagging facility, whereas, 20,000 private CCTV cameras were linked to police system. He said steps are being taken to modernise policing system in Karachi. During session, briefing was given to IG Sindh regarding body cameras. Concerned officers apprised IG Sindh that 768 body cameras were given to police officials. IG Sindh said cops who completed training of body-worn cameras have an important responsibility in field.
Officers and other cops equipped with body cameras will ensure solid police actions in coming days. Moreover, briefing was given on security plan for upcoming Local Government elections. Police action against drug peddlers and gutka sellers was also discussed in session. Police officers mulled over police stations record management system besides exchanging views on details of data uploading of proclaimed offenders and case files of investigation officers. Briefing was also given on arrests of suspects involved in murdering people for resisting robberies.
It is pertinenet to mention here that in the recent months the spate of street crimes incidents witnesseda rampant surge in the metropolis whereas with the upgradation of technological system it is expected that the level of criminal activities will reduce and the culprits will be brought to book thru coordinated efforts. It is also importanat that citizens should also remain cautious in surroundings of their residents and must avoid unnecessary late travels that may cause harm to their lives and accessories in usage.
