IG Sindh forms ‘specialised force’ to tackle street crimes

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police initiated strategic crackdown, and formed specialised force to tackle criminals in metropolis. Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon convened high-level meeting with city’s top police officers. During meeting, IGP Memon strategically allocated responsibility of handling most critical cases to team of 67 officers from Karachi’s police force with total of 60 officers will be deployed from various districts, along with seven elite members from SIU.
Among key directives issued by IG Memon, Special Investigation Unit has been entrusted with task of apprehending suspects in robbery-resistance murder case after which murder on resisting robbery will automatically be transferred to SIU. Senior Superintendent of Police Adeel Chandio has been assigned an important role in leading charge against culprits.
IG underscored importance of resolving cases within timely framework, each investigating officer is slated to handle between 10 to 12 cases concurrently, to expedite investigative process and bring perpetrators to justice without undue delay.
Furthermore, IG Memon has pledged generous incentives to motivate and equip officers with essential resources such as computers and fuel allowances, along with cash rewards.
Additionally, IG Memon announced his intention to petition government for establishment of specialised courts dedicated to handling these critical cases.
