ICCI calls for industrial tariff on cold storage industry

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) urged government to restore industrial power tariff for cold storage industry to save it from further trouble. Delegation of cold storage owners led by Anjuman-e-Wholesale Fruit Commission Agents President Babu Muhammad Aleem and General Secretary Tahar Ayub visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

They highlighted issues being faced by cold storage industry, said press release issued here.

Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari President ICCI said that cold storage industry was paying electricity bills under industrial tariff, but government has imposed commercial tariff on this industry due to which amount of their electricity bills has increased manifold giving rise to their cost of doing business.

This industry is facing great problems, he said adding that due to increase in business cost of cold storage industry, there is an unnecessary increase in prices of vegetables and fruits. He urged government to restore industrial tariff for this sector to save people from high inflation.
