In second season of SonyLIV show Maharani, Rani Bharti was played by Huma Qureshi again. In political drama, actress plays housewife who can't read or write. When her husband Bheema Bharti is shot, she becomes Chief Minister of Bihar (Sohum Shah). Huma got lot of praise for her leading role in historical drama.

Even though Huma's first web series was Netflix's Leila, which came out in 2019, she said she had some doubts about SonyLIV series and playing mother of three. Actrwss was offered role at start of Covid-19 endemic. When she was told more about role over Zoom, she said she was interested. Huma said, "When I read it, there were lot of concerns. One of them being obvious that industry has, i.e., it is role of female who has 2-3 kids of hers. If you do it, you might be slotting yourself. You still might have ten more years before you take up these kinds of roles. I would lie if I said I did not think about it or not questioned myself."
