When wildfires ravaged parts of Los Angeles this week, real estate agent Jenna Cooper quickly reached out to friends for clothing and essentials to assist those affected.
Her request quickly spread through a network of influential women, including celebrities like Sharon Stone and Halle Berry, who generously donated items from their own wardrobes. Berry shared on Instagram, “I’m packing up my entire closet,” urging others in Southern California to do the same. Cooper, who also runs a home goods store called +COOP, turned half of the space into a pop-up shop for displaced residents, allowing them to take what they needed.
Many Angelenos had lost everything in the fires, which were still raging by Friday. Stone helped amplify the donation effort on social media, encouraging people to contribute and spreading awareness. She, along with her sister Kelly Stone, contributed clothing, bedding, and more, while Kelly also volunteered to assist shoppers, offering hugs and helping individuals find items that matched their style. The store became a hub of support, with a therapy dog, Jackie Robinson, greeting visitors. Donations ranged from fresh underwear to high-end items like Gucci shoes and Zara dresses. Cooper’s network of supporters included actors, executives, lawyers, and others, with some sending gift cards or offering volunteer help. Lisa Cera, a Hollywood stylist who has worked with stars like the Kardashians, brought two large bags of items to donate, stating, “I know people who have lost everything, and I’m devastated for them.”
