Hindu fanatics targeting Muslims in India

When it comes to minorities rights, Modi’s India is always in the news for negative reasons. The uncalled-for controversy and backlash against Shahrukh Khan’s movie Pathan are the latest case in point.

And the Hindutava’s hatred against Muslims is quite evident from their backlash against Khan’s and it does not seem that the controversy is going to die down soon. From burning SRK’s effigy to trolling him on social media to call for public boycott appeal, the Hindu fanatics mainly the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is hell-bent to spilling venom against Mr Khan’s movie Pathan’s ‘Besharam Rang’ song. SRK is not the first Muslim actor to have been victimized.

The list is long. Earlier, Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, was the subject of  undue hatred and debate from Hindu fanatics, mainly the VHP, whose extremists openly targeted and criticized Aamir Khan’s movie for being Muslim. The Hindu extremists’ threats were cause of serious concern for Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao as well and she said that she feared for life due to rising incident of hatred against Indian Muslims. Hindu fanatics used to make fuss over why Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan have named their children as Muslim names despite their wives being Hindu.

They used to object to Saif Ali Khan for naming his kids as Taimur and Jahangir. Similarly they have been objecting to Aamir Khan for marrying Hindu women but naming his children as Azad and  Ira,  They even used derogatory remarks about Saif Ali Khan’s toddler son Taimur on social media. The above incidents are enough to indicate that Muslims of India are not safe in anyway and on any position.  In fact, the Modi regime has a total disregard for the Muslim community.

That's why it is going with all ruthless measures to subjugate Indian Muslims and the Kashmiris to violent tactics. Time has the world should exert pressure on the Modi regime to stop their discriminate behaviour against Indian Muslims. Moreover, Modi government should also be stopped from unilateral steps in the held valley of Kashmir and adhere to the UN resolution on Kashmir to hold a plebiscite in the held valley. Unfortunately, the Modi-led BJP has deepened its root in India. Modi-led BJP), is becoming stronger with the passage of time which is evident from its election victory in Uttar Pradesh last year.  In fact, it is endorsement of Modi's fanatic policies and his vision of guiding India into a fanatic state. With this victor, India's tall claims of secular state also stand exposed.

UP plays a pivotal role in India politics as it is the most populous state in India due to which a high number of legislators from UP make to  Indian Parliament. One wonders how Modi-led parties have deepened their roots in India politics which is evident from this broad social coalition based on caste and class mainly Hidutuva mantra, which has been the driving force behind Narendra Modi's electrical victories since 2014 With the passage of time, the BJP's Hindu nationalist agenda has been prevailing.

That India is inching closer to authoritarian state has also been acknowledged at world level as is evident from the recent data released by the Swedish V-Dem Institute, which included India among the list of states, which are fast tilting towards authoritarianism.

The hatred and discrimination against Muslims in India has set the alarm bells ringing for the Indian minorities, especially Muslims who are on the Radar of Modi's fanatic goons. Here one may recall the series of fanatic moves by BJP during the recent times and its like-minded groups who targeted the India Muslims.  Last year, a Muslim girl Muskan was heckled for wearing hijab. The local authorities of Karnataka, which is ruled by RSS fanatics and where 12 per cent of the population consists of  Muslims, few months had ordered the students to follow a particular dress codes which also include a ban on hijab.

This was in continuation of the plans of the Indian fanatics who in December last chalked out a plan to wipe out Muslims.  Yes, in December 2021, there was call for genocide of Muslims in India, when leaders from several far-right groups in India met on Dec 26 in 2021, calling  for the ethnic cleansing of minorities mainly Muslims in the country.

Their main target is  200 million Indian Muslims indeed. It's not that Dalit and other minorities are safe in India but Muslims bear the brunt of the situation.  In fact, the Hindutva leader Yati Narsinghanand, in his "hate speech conclave" in city of Haridwar,  had made specific  calls  for ethnic cleaning of minorities last year and to damage their worship places.

That PM Modi kept a mum on the issue and did not initiate any action against extremist Hindutva groups, means that he is patronizing these groups. In fact, it is Modi's innate desire of hegemony and its continued occupation of Jammu and Kashmir in contravention of the UN resolutions. Modi's regime since its coming power in 2014 has adopted a hostile behavior towards Pakistan and the Muslims in India.

Whether it is the Assam state or the occupied valley of Kashmir or for that matter any part of India, Muslims are being subjected to all sorts of discrimination and torture. India is so deep in its fanatic thinking that it has even mingled sports with politics.
