Hina Khar to attend meeting of Afghanistan’s neighbouring countries in Samarkand

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar will lead Pakistani delegation in 4th Meeting of Neighbouring Countries of Afghanistan to be held in Samarkand on April 13, 2023.
On sidelines of meeting, Minister of State will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of other participating delegations, Foreign Office press release said.
Neighbouring Countries of Afghanistan mechanism was established in 2021 on Pakistan’s initiative with view to evolving regional approach on situation in Afghanistan. Pakistan hosted first meeting of Foreign Ministers of Neighbouring Countries on September 8, 2021 and participated in second meeting held in Tehran, Iran in November 2021 and third meeting held in Tunxi, China in March 2022.
Mechanism will contribute towards forging consensus among neighbouring countries of Afghanistan, who are most direct stakeholders of situation in war-torn country. Pakistan will continue to support all efforts to advance shared objectives of peaceful, stable, sovereign, prosperous and connected Afghanistan.
