ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar met High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of European Commission (HR/VP) Josep Borrell in Strasbourg. Recalling her meeting with High Representative on sidelines of second EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Stockholm Minister expressed satisfaction on ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and EU based on Strategic Engagement Plan.

Minister highlighted, “Pakistan is engaging with European institutions for building partnerships under various initiatives of EU including Global Gateway Strategy with focus on green energy and blue economies,” according to statement received here.

She expressed desire to further enhance EU-Pakistan mutual engagement, especially legal pathways to migration while addressing EU’s concerns on readmission. Underscoring importance of trade and economic cooperation, Minister emphasised that EU’s GSP Plus framework had been mutually beneficial and instrumental in growth of trade between two sides. She highlighted importance of decisive global action on climate adaptation and building climate resilience and importance of developed countries taking lead in mobilising climate finance, noting significant role of public and private funds and technology to facilitate transition.

Hina and High Representative/Vice-President exchanged views on regional issues and reaffirmed their commitment to promote peace and prosperity through concerted efforts. Hina Rabbani expressed hope that HR/VP would visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
