HEC announces undergraduate scholarships for students of GB

Karachi: Higher Education Commission (HEC) announced undergraduate scholarships for students of Gilgit-Baltistan to study at top Pakistan universities/institutions.

According to official sources, applications are invited from outstanding students of Gilgit-Baltistan who intend to pursue undergraduate studies (four/five years BS Programmes) from HEC-recognised public sector universities/degree awarding institutions. Scholarships are being offered for academic year 2023-24 in all areas of study/disciplines under project titled, 'Undergraduate Scholarship Programme for students of Gilgit-Baltistan in top universities/institutions (Batch-III)'.

Sources said that Gilgit-Baltistan has significant geographical importance and is terminal point of CPEC. Main aim of this programme is to provide financial assistance to GB's students aspiring for undergraduate studies in best public sector universities.

Programme is also in line with Sustainable Development Goals of Pakistan-to eradicate extreme poverty and mobilise resources therefore, to accomplish these goals, government has directed HEC to expand higher education scholarships for least developed areas and reduce inequality within country, they added.

Similarly, students already enrolled in any BS Programme prior to advertisement maximum of one academic year/session may also apply. Students are required to apply through HEC Online Application System? https://eportal.hec.gov.pk/? till September 30, 2023.
