Arshad Nadeem, the national hero of Pakistan's javelin throw in the Paris Olympics, has given such a proud gift to the nation on this year's Independence Day by making a record performance, which should be used as a proud precedent for other fields as well.

While Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal for Pakistan after 40 years, he also took the honor of throwing 92.97, the biggest throw in the 118-year history of the Olympics. Thus, he became the first athlete to bring gold medal to Pakistan in individual events. The previous record for the longest throw in the Olympics was held by Andersen Thor of Norway who threw 90.57 meters in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.  In the final of the event, 12 athletes lined up, including India's defending champion Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj Chopra made it to the final by throwing 89.34 meters while Arshad Nadeem was fourth with 85.59. Overall, this is Pakistan's 11th medal in the history of Olympics. India's Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal in the last Olympics, was adjudged the silver medalist this time with a throw of 89.45m while Grenada's Andres bagged the bronze medal with a throw of 88.54m.  The messages of the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister and the Army Chief including all the notable personalities on Arshad's brilliant success in the Paris Olympics are making it clear that this victory is the victory of the entire nation.  It is a prayer that the spirit of better performance will be prominent in every field of national life.

The milestones of success will continue to rise and Pakistan will continue to move towards the front ranks of development and prosperity in the international community. On the contrary, it is time that we should focus on development of sports at grass roots level. Sports play a major role in the balance of personality. The strength in the youth that makes them want to fly and run is best expressed in sports where there is an atmosphere of competition along with expression of one's abilities. Lose or win. Self-control is the real test.  Sports are both a source of catharsis and a sign of health. Sportsmanship is also a quality bestowed by sports, which inculcates humility, endurance and recognition of others' success. Though Arshad Nadeem performed  briliantly in Paris Olympics but overall our remaining atheltes  failed to impress. The Gold medal won by Arshad Nadeem is more the result of his own hard work as he himself admitted that he had few facilities to train as comprared to his compatriots at international level.  Everyone is complaining about the disappointing number and performance of rest of Pakistani athletes in the Paris Olympics, but no one talks about the reasons, the government, parents and teachers should think and formulate a plan of action. The main reason is to make retired officers head of various athletics. Instead of awarding specific people to these posts, expert people should be selected under some rules. Today we are surrounded by a lot of misogyny and fascism. No one, there is a strange stubbornness embedded in their personality. They sit idle because they have nothing to do, so they keep expressing their grief on social media and in doing so they cross all the boundaries.  Pakistan is a country of talented people.

Sports should be a compulsory part of school and college curriculum for all children, teenagers and young people. Indigenous sports and other athletics competitions should be conducted in educational institutions, children with better performance should be sent to training institutions at the national level.  We have taken cricket upon us, while other sports have a more positive effect on the personality and health of a person, the private schools established in closed buildings should be restricted to have access to the playgrounds.  After coming from school and college, now children and Young people spend most of their time with mobile phones and computers, their physical development and health are affected due to reduced physical activity, so if they join sports in educational institutions, this inertia will take them out of the room during holidays and free time.  They will take it to the field and park, they will be protected from negative activities by being associated with a cause, then today's children and youth, when they enjoy themselves by participating in various sports in schools and colleges, they will make to international sports and bring laurels for the country.  All provincial governments are requested to make sports compulsory in schools and colleges and provide sports teachers and necessary facilities in this regard. Many sports do not cost anything like running, jumping, weights lifting, jumping, swimming, volleyball, football, basektbll, judo karate, etc.  In this way the next generation can be made morally, mentally and physically healthy. Sportsmanship is also a quality bestowed by sports, which inculcates humility, endurance and recognition of others' success. Sports are also a means to promote tranquility in society and  keep the youth inclined towards constructive activities. But such activities should be promoted at grass roots level, only then can they will be more beneficial for the society. And last but not the least, the sports should also be not mingled with politics. The two are different fields and should be kept separate so that the real purpose of sports is come to the fore in the society.
