KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman slammed Pakistan Peoples’ Party for having an agenda aimed at reducing their party supporters, while announced to stage protest against Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for releasing polling results.
Hafiz Naeem while addressing press conference here said that Pakistan is currently undergoing severe challenges with people having tough life. He criticised Sindh government’s infrastructure policies, adding that they seized mandate of Karachi.
JI chief accused PPP of conducting illegal measures to increase their numbers, including changing seats and not conducting local elections. While criticising PPP, he added that ECP had been supporting PPP to shameful extent.
Slamming PPP for having an agenda to reduce Jamaat-e-Islami numbers, Hafiz Naeem said that in such situation mayor of Karachi will not be PPP’s jiyala.
Polling results of 11 Union Councils had not been announced yet, despite elections being held on January 15, said Hafiz Naeem. He said that their party wants to work for development of Karachi and election body must play positive role.
Besides this, Naeem ur Rehman also demanded polling results be corrected with immediate release of results of R20 UCs. JI chief announced that they will stage protest and sit-in at ECP on March 10, which will continue until demands are met.
