KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Mustafa Kamal and Farooq Sattar joined ranks with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and party threatened that it would not let Local Government (LG) polls take place.
Addressing press conference with Mustafa Kamal, Waseem Akhter, Aamir Khan, MQM Revivial Committee head Farooq Sattar and dozens others, MQM-P convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said “Gravity” of situation in Sindh’s urban areas necessitated all people to work together. MQM-P leader said, “Under current situation, it is imperative that people whose families gave their life for Pakistan’s existence should come together for historic battle.”
Siddiqui said those who wanted to divide country were baffled and assured that revived MQM-P would fulfill aspirations of people and work to advance urban development. He said that political freedom had been curtailed in urban Sindh, adding that MQM-P had been highlighting political issues in province.
Former Minister said MQM-P groups had banded together to thwart any attempts to intrude on city’s true mandate. He expressed gratitude to Mustafa Kamal, Anees Qaimkhani and Farooq Sattar for attending presser and demonstrating their determination. He said all those present in presser wished to see Pakistan succeed despite challenges faced in past five years. He alleged that MQM-P was defeated in 2018 general election through fraud.
Regarding second phase of Local Government elections in Sindh, MQM-P convener threatened that party would not let LG polls take place on January 15. He said party would participate in elections only if delimitation issue stood resolved. He added that if delimitation was not fixed, party would fight for its rights. Syed Mustafa Kamal said PSP would work under MQM-P’s convener Khalid Maqbool and that they would leave their “Comfort zones” to work for betterment of Karachi. He claimed that Asif Ali Zardari wanted his son Bilawal to be Prime Minister.
PSP Chairman acknowledged that there were differences between PSP and MQM-P, but emphasised that people of Karachi must work together for betterment of city as it is crucial contributor to country’s economy. He criticised former government, led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and PPP for not doing enough for city and its people. Kamal stated that announcement made would bring positive changes to Karachi and Sindh in near future.
Former Minister and founder of MQM Organisation Restoration Committee Dr Farooq Sattar said MQM was moving away from its past reputation and becoming party for intellectuals and educated individuals. He stated that MQM should be allowed to fulfill its national responsibility.
