Govt to provide Rs55bn relief to consumers in power bills

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir said a relief of 55 billion rupees has been provided to consumers in electricity bills on special directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Talking to Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf here he said that flood-affected people are being given a relief of 10 billion rupees in electricity bills.

In his remarks, NA Speaker emphasised need for collective efforts to address problems faced by country including that of energy crisis. He stressed priority should be given to renewable energy projects including that of solar to provide relief to consumers in electricity bills.

He said effective legislation is also being done by Parliament to address public problems. FAC for June was Rs 10 per unit while now it was 22 paisa per unit. Power Minister admitted that during last couple of months fuel price adjustments in electricity bills had affected people. Electricity consumers would see relief in electricity bill in next month,” he said.
