KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that his government will respect views of assembly members and people of province regarding proposed amendments to IRSA Act, just as it did in case of Kalabagh Dam.
Talking to media after offering dua at Mazar-e-Quaid, accompanied by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and his cabinet members, he stated, "We, PPP government in Sindh, have consistently represented best interests of its people, whether it was Kalabagh Dam issue or any other matter and would continue to do so with IRSA Act," he said.
He said that assembly has passed resolution against proposed amendment in IRSA Act which is reflection of public opinion. "Our assembly has already passed resolution for implementation of 1991 water accord. He said that due to climate change, we have received more than average rains which have damaged road infrastructure all over Sindh.
He said that Mayor of Karachi through letter had requested sanction of special funds to repair damaged infrastructure in city. He mentioned that he would release funds but expressed concerns that defective drainage system could keep damaging roads again and again. "I have directed the mayor to develop plan and feasibility of improving city's drainage system to permanently resolve issue.
To question, he said that his [KP CM] statements/remarks were condemnable and everyone, except one person [founder of PTI], has condemned with strong words. He said that on 76th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he along with his Cabinet visited Mazar-e-Quaid to honour his memory and contributions.
He said that his great leaders, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto carried forward vision of father of nation and further strengthened it. CM Shah reiterated commitment of Sindh government to uphold principles of unity, faith and discipline, values that Jinnah had emphasised throughout his life.
