Govt offers Rs10m bounty for katcha area dacoits

LAHORE: Following directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Punjab government has announced bounty of Rs 10 million on heads of katcha area dacoits.

Initiative is part of an intensified crackdown on criminals, particularly those involved in violent crimes against law enforcement. According to announcement, reward of Rs 5 million has been set for capture of most wanted bandits, while Rs 2.5 million will be awarded for arrest of other bandits and terrorists. Maryam Nawaz stressed government’s commitment to bringing terrorists who have attacked police personnel to justice. This decision follows tragic Katcha Machchka incident, which led to strong response from Punjab Police. In recent operation, Punjab Police apprehended main suspect involved in attack on police officials, identified as Bashir Sher. Police spokesman confirmed that Bashir Sher, who was one of key figures in attack, was killed in late-night police operation in katcha area. During same operation, five of Bashir Sher’s accomplices were injured. Injured suspects include Sanaullah Shar, Gada Ali, Kamloshar, Ramzan Shar and Gadi. Inspector General Punjab stated that operation against katcha area dacoits involved in attack on police personnel was underway and all those responsible will be brought to justice
