ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said best way of paying homage to martyrs is to make Pakistan strong and self-sufficient on economic front. In tweet, he said coalition government has laid foundation of economic recovery plan in form of Special Investment Facilitation Council to achieve this goal.

He said it was an honour for him to address function organised in honour of martyrs and veterans at GHQ yesterday. Shehbaz Sharif said all these great families whose loved ones sacrificed themselves for our safe and bright future are benefactors of entire nation. He said living nations always remember their benefactors.

He said that our economy can't grow with high power tariff, thus we have to replace power plants operating on costlier fuel that burdens our people and results in circular debt.

He said as part of government's revolutionary solarisation project of generating 10,000 MW to replace costly thermal power, he launched programme for solarisation of 100,000 tube wells yesterday.

He said solarisation of tube wells will provide cheap electricity to farmers and boost our domestic agricultural yield, leading to self-sufficiency in food production.

He said long-term solution lies in tapping our abundant solar and hydel energy resources. He said solarisation project is priority and total of 377 billion rupees will be spent on solarisation of tube wells.

Prime Minister said we have offered our brotherly country, Saudi Arabia to invest in multipurpose Diamir Basha Dam.
