Govt jacks up POL price by Rs6.72 litre

ISLAMABAD: Government increased petrol price by Rs 6.72 per litre for next fortnight. “In wake of fluctuations in petroleum prices in international market and exchange rate variations, government has decided to revise existing prices or petroleum products to pass on impact to consumers,” statement released by Finance Division read.
While government raised price of petrol, it slashed price of diesel by 51 paisas.
In line with new changes, price of petrol will be Rs 233.91 per litre, diesel will be Rs 244.44 per litre and kerosene oil will be sold for Rs 199.40 per litre and price of light diesel oil will be Rs 191.75 per litre.
New prices will come into effect from August 16, 2022. \ A day earlier, Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail said that owing to conditions set forth for country by International Monetary Fund government is not in a position to afford any spetroleum subsidies. He said that finance ministry will not impose any more taxes and levies on petroleum products, but reiterated that government could not bear any more losses by providing subsidies.
