Govt jacks up petrol prices by Rs 35/litre

ISLAMABAD: Masses were left in agony as Finance Minister announced an increase of Rs 35 in per litre prices of Petrol, effective as of 11 am on Sunday. Announcement was made in brief televised address by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to nation. In his address, Minister announced that Kerosene oil and light diesel oil prices were enhanced by Rs 18 per litre.

High Speed Diesel-Rs 262.80 per litre
MS Petrol —Rs 249.80 per litre
Kerosene Oil -Rs 189.83 per litre
Light Diesel Oil - Rs 187 per litre
Dar said reports of petrol shortage were farce and alleged that "Artificial shortages" were being created. "Ample fuel is available and under normal circumstances, there would be no reason for such shortages to occur," he said. Ishaq Dar said after increase, petrol will be available at 249.80 rupees per litre, high speed diesel at 262.80 rupees per litre, kerosene oil at 189.83 rupees per litre after surge of 18 rupees and light diesel oil at 187 rupees per liter after an increase of 18 rupees. He said that government had to take these measures due to devaluation of rupee and 11 percent increase in oil prices in international market. He said that currently there is plenty of petrol in country and due to these rumours efforts are being made to create an artificial shortage of petrol. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan criticised government for increasing prices of petroleum products and currency devaluation.

Taking on to Twitter he said that latest hike in fuel prices and devaluation of rupee “Has crushed masses and salaried class”.
