Govt greenlights FIA to arrest Shaukat Tarin

KARACHI: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been granted permission by higher authorities to arrest former Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.
Talking to media here, Rana Sanaullah said that FIA was given go-ahead for arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and ex-Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin. He said that Tarin will be brought to justice for his wrongdoings.
He said that government is working on improving security. He said that premier held an important meeting regarding security affairs two days ago. Sanaullah said that development work is underway on key projects in Pakistan by China. He said that security institutions are put on high alert after new wave of terrorism. He said that special steps will be taken for protection of Karachi citizens.
Regarding inflation, he said that common man will be given relief and Pakistan will avoid default after agreement with International Monetary Fund.
He said that Imran Khan was ousted for bringing country to default risk. He criticised Imran Khan’s recent statement and termed it ‘propaganda against country’. He alleged that Imran Khan has become ‘political terrorist’ after bringing disasters to country during his 3.5-year tenure. He blamed former premier for signing IMF agreement on wrong conditions which increased economic hardships for Pakistan. He alleged that PTI chief is running campaign to destabilise Pakistan.
Sanaullah defended government’s move of arresting Imran Khan’s supporter and Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rasheed. Sheikh Rasheed levelled serious allegation of assassination on head of major political party and case was filed against him over court order. He rejected impression of any vengeful action against AML Chief. Toshakhana thefts allegedly committed by Imran Khan came forth before nation and institutions are conducting an investigation. He said that he will be arrested soon.
He said that government is not rejecting to hold elections and it will follow constitutional procedure to conduct polls. He added that National Assembly will complete its tenure as per Constitution.
