LAHORE: On recommendation of Advisory Board, Ministry of Food and Agriculture has issued notification fixing retail price of sugar at Rs 98.82 per kilogramme.

According to notification issued by Ministry of Food and Agriculture, retail price of sugar across country has been fixed at Rs 98.82. Price of sugar will include Rs 14.58 Sales Tax. Per kilogramme price of sugar will also contain Rs 5.30 profit of sugar mills, besides 25 paisa as distributors’ margin.

According to notification, transport cost of Rs 2 per kg, retailer’s profit of Re 1 per kg will also be included in total cost. As price of sugar was not fixed, commodity’s rate in market was increased by 30 percent.

Sources in Ministry said district administration would be bound to sell sugar at official rates. On other hand, citizens said sugar was being sold at Rs 125 per kg even in big stores, while price of sugar in open market was Rs 130 per kg.
