Govt completing CPEC projects on priority, transparently: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that government was completing projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor on priority which were deliberately delayed by previous government during last four years.

In a meeting with a delegation of China Road and Bridge Corporation headed by President Ye Chengyin, he said government was answerable to masses for protection of public money. Mentioning deliberate delay in development projects by previous government, he said nation had identified its foes.

He said government was also ensuring transparency in development projects besides prioritising public interest projects. He said Pak-China enjoyed a time-tested friendship spanned over decades as China always stood by Pakistan in hard times.

Shehbaz said that he as well as whole nation was grateful to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese people for their support to Pakistan following rains and consequent flash floods.

He instructed authorities concerned to accomplish CPEC projects on priority as well as within stipulated time frame. During meeting, he was briefed on ongoing and completed mega projects.

It was told that Havelian-Thakot section of Karakorum Highway-II had been opened to traffic. Work on second phase from Thakot-Rai Kot has been started.

Meeting was also briefed in detail about progress of Karachi Coastal Development Project, Rashakai Special Economic Zone, Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway, Babusar Tunnel, ML-1 and railway corridor between Karachi Port and PIPRI.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal, special assistants to PM Jahanzeb Khan, Zafaruddin Mahmood and relevant senior officers attended meeting. Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Faisal Sabzwari joined meeting through video link.
