Govt committed to elevating women’s role in society: Romina Alam

Karachi: Government is making concerted efforts to elevate women’s roles in society, according to Romina Khurshid Alam, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change.
As chief guest on final day of five-day training workshop organised by Women Media Centre in local Hotel, Romina affirmed government’s commitment to providing opportunities for women to enhance their skills. She underscored importance of training in empowering women to overcome various challenges. Addressing issue of climate change, she emphasised critical role of media in raising awareness. She asserted that mitigating adverse effects of climate change is shared responsibility and called for heightened sense of accountability within society. Fauzia Shaheen CEO of Women Media Centre and senior Programme Assistant Arj Atiq were present. Workshop saw active participation from young women journalists and media students. Certificates were awarded to participants at conclusion of session.
