Govt committed to complete IMF programme, Dar says to US envoy

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Ishaq Dar said that government was committed to complete International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme. During meeting with Ambassador of United States of America to Pakistan Donald Blome who called on Minister, he informed him about progress on on-going talks with IMF, according to press statement issued by Finance Ministry.
He said Pakistan values deep rooted historic and durable bilateral relations with United States on economic and trade fronts.
Dar shared economic policies and priorities of government to address challenging economic environment and set economy on path to stability and growth.
He informed US Ambassador about government's budgetary measures to reduce fiscal gap in order to meet its national as well as international financial obligations.
Two sides also exchanged views about areas of common interest and how existing bilateral relations between two countries can be enhanced further.
US Ambassador expressed confidence in policies and programmes of government for economic sustainability and socio-economic uplift of masses. He extended his support to further promote bilateral economic, investment and trade relations between both countries.
Dar thanked US Ambassador and reiterated desire of government to further deepen bilateral trade and investment ties with USA.
