Govt awards free electricity worth billions rupees to employees

 ISLAMABAD: The people of the country are worried about expensive electricity and heavy taxes in their bills, while it has been revealed that the government has given billions of rupees worth of free electricity to public and corporate sector employees.

During the Question hour at the National Assembly session, the Ministry of Energy has revealed that billions of rupees have been given free electricity to public and corporate sector employees annually. According to the document, 441.5 million units of free electricity were given to 200,000 employees of the public and corporate sector annually. Similarly, 308.2 million units of free electricity were given to current employees annually, while 133.2 million units of free electricity were given to retired employees. The document states that 149,000 employees of DISCOs were given free electricity. Similarly, it has been revealed that 26,368 employees of NTDC and 12,000 employees of GENCO were given free electricity. 12,700 employees of WAPDA and 159 employees of PITC were also given free electricity. 78,000 serving and 71,800 retired employees of DISCOs were given free electricity. 20,000 serving and 6,000 retired employees of NTDC benefited from free electricity. The documents revealed that 7,500 serving and 5,000 retired employees of GENCO enjoyed free electricity. 7,315 serving and 5,381 retired employees of WAPDA were given free electricity.
