Govt again sends summary to President for summoning join session of Parliament on Jan 12

ISLAMABAD: Government and Aiwan-e-Sadr have once against come face to face following rejection of summary by President Arif Alvi for summoning joint session of Parliament.

Ministry of parliamentary affairs has once again sent advice to Aiwan-e-Sadr for summoning joint session of Parliament on January 12 after rejection of Prime Minister’s advice by President for summoning joint session on January 9.

Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs had sent summary on January 5 for summoning joint session on January 9. Local Body amendment bill has to be got approved in session. President had returned this bill without his signatures.

Following rejection of summary by President on summoning joint session government has sent another summary to President.

According to Ministry of Parliamentary affairs sources Aiwan-e-Sadr has given no reply to second summary.

President generally summons joint session of Parliament within 24 hours on advice of Prime Minister. This time matter is being inordinately delayed by President. Joint session of Parliament cannot be summoned on requisition.

Sources said if President rejects summary for summoning joint session on January 12 then government will hammer out strategy as per Constitution.
