‘Govt again extends census date’

Islamabad: Government extended final date of census process for second time and it will now continue till April 15. Government failed to conclude census process by its deadline and extended final date for second time. Census process was completed in Punjab by 99 percent, 98 percent in Sindh, 82 percent in Balochistan, 100 percent in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 100 percent in Islamabad, whereas, process was not yet completed in 25 districts of country.
Process was completed in 131 out of 156 districts in country and data of 38.54 million out of 39.65 million families were collected, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Earlier in month, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics extended closing date of 7th Population and Housing Digital Census 2023 for completing remaining work to ensure 100 percent coverage by April 10, 2023. According to statement, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics received a proposal from Provincial Census Commissioners (PCCs), requesting more time to complete ‘leftover census work’.
