Governor Sindh presides MQM-PPP joint meeting for consultation on LG system

Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori presided over a joint meeting of Mutahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan and Pakistan Peoples’ Party at Governor House. In meeting, there was positive progress on formation of Local Government Law in province by implementing orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan under Article 140-A of Constitution.

It was pledged during meeting that an empowered Local Government Law according to orders of Supreme Court would be made in province. Governor Sindh said that Local Government system should be according to wishes and aspirations of masses of province.

He said that both political parties have mandate of electorates and as such it was their responsibility to legislate a LG Law which is acceptable to masses. Ex-Mayor Waseem Akhter, ex-Law Minister Barister Farough Naseem and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Sadiq Iftikhar represented MQM while Minister Information Sharjeel Memon, Minister LG Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Minister Labour Saeed Ghani participates in meeting from PPP.
