Government to reduce regulatory permissions: Minister Dagha

KARACHI: Younus Dagha caretaker Sindh Minister of Finance, Revenue and Planning said there are 245 regulatory permissions prevalent in Sindh. These have created immense problems for citizens for long time.
Government has prepared strategy to reduce number to around 124. He informed that human interaction with regulators would be reduced by having online applications and e-payments. Talking to delegation of Employers' Federation of Pakistan (EFP)-ex-President Majyd Aziz, members of EFP Board of Directors, Humayun Nazir, Syed Hasnain Mazher and Mehmood Arshad along with Secretary General Syed Nazar Ali, he disclosed that strategy is being formulated under which all inspections, such as Labour, SESSI, Boiler, Electric, etc., would all be done in one day where all inspectors would come as team and that inspections would be done every two years.
"Government is determined to have zero tolerance for bad practices or corruption. Moreover, an App is being developed for taxpayers concerning Sindh Revenue Board. Government will also have SAP software installed in KWSB and town committees across province."
Younus Dagha informed that agriculture and mining would be priority and all efforts would be made to attract Foreign Direct Investment.
Majyd Aziz called for strong efforts to be made to explore minerals in Sindh and to protect rights of workers in mining and agriculture. Syed Nazar Ali advised government should promote local products in its procurement requirements. Humayun Nazir said government should create facilitative and favourable working environment in industrial estates. Mehmood Arshad informed that EFP Economic Council is working with counterparts in Philippines, Türkiye, Qatar and Saudi Arabia on various issues including bilateral trade and investment.
Syed Hasnain Mazher said EFP in association with government and ILO has introduced National Skills Passport Pilot Project for benefit of potential and returning migrant workers who would be tested, assessed and issued certificates in shape of this passport.
