Government assures full support to K-Electric on ‘BRT Red Line Project’

Karachi: Meeting with Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon, CEO KE and team and of Sindh's Secretary Transport discussed how to push BRT project on fast track basis. Sindh government representatives and Commissioner assured their complete support to utility. Both agreed upon technical and financial modalities of project as well.
During meeting CEO K-Electric shared efforts made by utility bringing BRT Line project operational at its earliest. Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi said, "K-Electric has been part of this city for over century and we are deeply embedded in its very fabric. We are committed to Karachi and will go to any length to support its infrastructural upgradation.
BRT Line is an excellent project that will not only assist citizens of this city in mass transit but will also reduce load on roads, making it easier for utilities operating in city to reach out to its consumers quickly. We are committed to supporting completion of project within it's deadline and are making all efforts to achieve this goal while liaising closely with relevant government stakeholders." Mushtaq Sheikh Additional Secretary Transport, Capt. (retd) Altaf Hussain Sario MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority and Amer Zia Chief Distribution Officer were present. Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Memon directed Karachi administration to remove all encroachments from BRT Red Line project corridor within 7 days while K-Electric was instructed to fast-track transfer of utility installations from route. He directed Trans Karachi to ensure provision of better diversion routes made on under-construction Red Line project so that citizens do not suffer.
