Gov Tessori in meetings with PNSC Chairman, Portuguese envoy discuss key issues

KARACHI: Portuguese Ambassador Manuel Freserico Pinheiro Da Silva called on Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori at Governor House. Honorary Consul General of Portugal Ayaz Faqir was also present. In meeting, they discussed bilateral trade and economic relations, measures to increase them, discussion on investment opportunities in Sindh province and flood victims relief measures, exchange of trade delegations and other issues of mutual interest.
Governor said that Ronaldo is one of most popular footballers in Pakistan, while Pakistan-Portugal relations were becoming more stable with passage of time and in this context, Portugal’s investment would increase employment opportunities in Sindh.
He said that Portugal was desirous of increasing trade, as country’s economic hub Karachi has vast investment opportunities in various sectors. Ambassador of Portugal said that Portuguese investors were interested in investing in province.
Meanwhile, Chairman Pakistan National Shipping Corporation Rear Admiral Jawad Ahmed called on Governor.
They discussed corporation’s performance, measures for improvement, role in liquid cargo delivery and other matters of mutual interest. Tessori said that National Shipping Corporation is important national institution and its performance should be improved. He said that Corporation’s role in timely delivery of petroleum products to ports of country was important and in this regard, addition of new ships to Corporation will would increase its efficiency.
Chairman told Governor that 12 ships of Corporation were engaged in importing liquid cargo while negotiations were on for purchase of two new ships.
