Gov Tessori asks DG Nadra to make CNIC procedure easier

Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Director General Nadra Sindh Muhammad Anees Khan discussed provision of identity cards to Pakistani citizens and formation of mobile teams of NADRA. Governor said that NADRA should take steps to remove difficulties in obtaining identity cards for Pakistani citizens and procedure of FRC and other documents issued by NADRA should be made easier. Kamran Tessori said that mobile units of NADRA should be sent to different areas of city and NADRA office hours of Orangi Town should be extended and run in double shift. Complaints received in this cell will be processed immediately. Anees Khan assured Governor that his instructions will be strictly followed.

Meanwhile, Governor said that under Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme, 800 Sri Lankan students will be given all-expenses-based scholarships in various universities of country. He said that five year-long programme covers areas such as medicine, engineering, computer science, business administration, mass communication and other fields while programme provides Sri Lankan students with better education as well as skills in their respective fields.

Addressing ceremony organised by Pakistan Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme congratulating Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and his team for effort he said that Pakistan has always been friend and benefactor of Sri Lanka.

He said that Sri Lankan cricket was attacked by terrorists in Lahore, yet Sri Lanka was first to send its cricket team to Pakistan to restore international cricket in Pakistan.

He said that establishment of centre will also be implemented. He said that Sri Lankan students will study in Dow University, NED University, Jinnah Sindh Medical University and Karachi University. Administrator Karachi Dr Syed Saifur Rehman, Consul General Sri Lanka Jageth Abeywarna, Director HEC Javed Memon and Sri Lankan students participated in event. Earlier, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed gave detailed briefing to Governor about operation programme. Consul General of Sri Lanka thanked Higher Education Commission and government of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations span many decades. He said that 75 years of Pakistan’s diplomacy is being completed, free trade agreement has also been signed between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Moreover, Governor inquired about well-being of legendary cricketer Javed Miandad. Tessori said that Miandad is hero of nation. Javed Miandad thanked Governor for this gesture.
