PTI's Barrister Ali Zafar declared on Wednesday that party Chairman Imran Khan wouldn't participate in the intra-party polls, putting forward Barrister Gohar Khan as the nominee for the party chairman position.

The PTI is set to conduct its intra-party elections this Saturday. Senator Ali Zafar made the announcement during a press conference in Islamabad, joined by Raoof Hasan and Barrister Gohar.

Addressing media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan in Islamabad, Zafar explained that Khan's absence is temporary due to his disqualification following the Toshakhana case. He highlighted that while Imran's Toshakhana sentence has been suspended, a final decision remains pending.

Zafar stressed that the ex-premier directed the party to hold the intra-party polls, emphasizing the strong link between PTI and Imran Khan.

Contradicting this, Sher Afzal Marwat claimed to journalists that the ousted prime minister won't contest the intra-party elections due to his conviction in the Toshakhana case, asserting that PTI will appoint a new chairman post-elections.

However, these statements were refuted by the official PTI social media platform X. The PTI spokesperson firmly dismissed speculations about the intra-party elections, emphasizing that Imran Khan hadn't communicated any decision regarding his participation. The spokesperson clarified that Khan hadn't decided to withdraw or nominate another leader for the elections.

Earlier reports suggested PTI's plan to conduct the intra-party elections following the Election Commission of Pakistan's directives.
