KARACHI: Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem on special initiative released dues to retired and deceased employees of District Central. Cheques more than Rs 100 million were issued to retired and heirs of employees. Heirs received around Rs 70 million while 367 employees in total were given around Rs 28.5 million in form of leave encashment. In history of District Central, such big amount has never been distributed on head of employees’ dues. Last year dues of about Rs 60 million had also been paid to retired employees in this regard. Cheques giving event was held at main office Nazimabad No. 2.

Senior leader of Pakistan Peoples’ Party and former Petroleum Minister Dr. Asim Hussain (Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Satarai Imtiaz) addressed as chief guest said that employees of District are being treated without any discrimination. To serve generation and rightful without any delay is top priority.  He said that it is pity that in past, retired and heirs of deceased employees could not be paid dues timely left in distress. But now there will be no delay in payment to employees retiring. Dr. Asim said, “I live in Central District. Not only I want to serve people, but I will continue to play my role safeguarding rights of employees.

Earlier Taha Saleem expressed his gratitude to Dr. Asim Hussain for efforts increasing OZT amount of 80 million rupees for Central Municipality. He showed confidence for continuing cooperation by Dr Asim in future.  He said that with support of Dr. Asim Hussain, substantial increase in amount of OZT and increase close to 45 percent in salaries of employees is praiseworthy.

Taha Salim highlighted performance of District in last one year. He said that income is being increased in order to provide better civic services to area dwellers. For first time in last ten years, municipal tax has been increased. Health cards are being issued to employees. Condition of eleven dispensaries under management of District becomes improved and seven more doctors were provided by Sindh government for providing better health facilities to people.   In field of education, 15 schools have been handed over to private sector under public-private cooperation. Free of cost IT courses in Timuriya Library are being conducted while free edification to aspirants of CSS examination is being provided.

Under which 24 students passed CSS exam till last year while this year 7 more students have succeeded. 

Through operation against illegal encroachments, land worth Rs 20 billion has been restored and handed over concerned departments.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party Central District President Masroor Ahsan, Central Municipal Commissioner Zahid Hassan Rand, Director Admin Muhammad Asim Abbasi, Director Taxation Fatima Saima, senior Account Officer Nasir Khan and officials were present. Later Dr. Asim Hussain and Taha Saleem presented cheques to employees.
