German envoy, Imran Khan discuss democracy, human rights

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan said country was being ruled by government that deemed itself rightful to defect from democracy and Constitution.
In meeting with German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas, he said PTI was struggling for supremacy of Constitution and democratic values in country adding that basic right to vote and public mandate made foundation of democracy. People empower leaders to make policies, he added.

Meeting held at Khan residence at Zaman Park, underscored exchange of thoughts on matters of mutual interest, PTI political philosophy, human rights violations in Pakistan and effects of government unconstitutional actions on country democracy. Mr Grannas highlighted effects of human rights violations on GSP+ status of country. In statement issued on PTI’s official Twitter handle, Imran Khan and German Ambassador discussed ‘matters related to bilateral issues and mutual interest’ during meeting.
During meeting, Imran Khan apprised dignity of his party’s political philosophy. He highlighted ‘human rights violation being carried out in Pakistan’. Two personalities also discussed ‘negative impact’ of deviation from Constitution on democracy.
