GEO wins Inter-media cricket title

KARACHI: GEO News defeated ARY News and clinched the Inter-Media Welcome T20 World Cup title at Eastern Ground Karachi.
According to details, the final of the tournament was played between the arch-rivals Geo News and ARY News, under Sindh Youth Sports and DR Pakistan. After batting first, Geo News piled up a total of 169/4 in the stipulated over. Azhar Ishaq scored 51 runs off 33 balls with 6 fours and skipper Jafar Hussain scored 48 runs while Muhammad Imad scored 36 runs. In response, ARY News kept the competition steady, Mohammad Atiq tried hard to achieve the target, he remained unbeaten by scoring 85 runs off 49 balls with the help of 11 fours and two sixes, but ARY News scored 161 for 6 wickets. Mohammad Emad was declared the best player of the match for his excellent all-rounder performance and recieved his award from Chief Guest Director General Karachi Development Authority Syed Shujaat Hussain. Later, Former DG KDA Naveed Anwar Siddiqui, President of RCA Zone Two Jameel Ahmed, DR Pakistan Chief Muhammad Rizwan, Sindh Youth Sports (SYS) Chief Organizer Asghar Azeem, Sports Organizer Mohammad Naseem, Director Media KDA Akram Sattar along with Senior Sports Journalists Anisur Rehman distributed the prizes among the players.
On the occasion, DG KDA Shujaat Hussain said that it is a good initiative for journalists to play by themselves, like media houses, other private institutions also formed their own teams, understanding the importance of sports, awareness of rules and healthy life. Responding to a query, He said that the governing body has approved the policy of "adopting" KDA grounds, due to the difficult financial situation, the Karachi Development Authority, with the support of Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, has decided to play sports. It has been decided to hand over the grounds to various community sports organizations and important personalities who can maintain these grounds on a non-commercial basis.
