GB, AKU to collaborate on nursing education, healthcare

KARACHI: Nurses are backbone of healthcare systems. Government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is committed to establish nursing college in Gilgit to produce over 5,000 nurses in next five years.
GB Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan talking to Dr Sulaiman Shahabuddin President of Aga Khan University (AKU) and other officials on visiting University campus here said that his keen interest is in services being provided by Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) and AKU’s Centre for Innovation in Medical Education a state-of-the-art facility for simulation-based learning for health professionals.
He announced that GB government will work with AKUH as part of Chief Minister Health Endowment Fund to help deserving patients from GB to receive high-quality healthcare at Hospital.
“AKU’s School of Nursing and Midwifery is first nursing institution to be affiliated with university and benchmark for nursing and midwifery education in Pakistan.
