Gaza ceasefire proposal involves three stages: Hamas leader

Gaza: Proposal for new ceasefire in Israel-Hamas fighting in Gaza would involve three stages, including release of hostages held by group and Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, senior Hamas leader has told Reuters.

Women, children, elderly and wounded would be released in first stage, Hamas leader said.

Meanwhile, Canada has announced new $ 29.8 million funding to provide food, water and other humanitarian assistance to Gaza, Reuters reported.

Funds will be allocated to international agencies, including World Food Programme, Unicef and World Health Organisation, Global Affairs Canada said in statement.
