ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured members of National Assembly that his government would address issue of gas load shedding during sehr and iftar as inflation-weary people have been registering complaints.
Prime Minister responding to point of order raised by MNA Syed Agha Rafiullah, told house that he had already taken notice of matter.
PM Shehbaz shared that he had already summoned meeting to be held later in day, to discuss issue of gas load shedding. “We will leave no stone unturned to address this issue,” PM assured house.
Earlier, parliamentarian from Karachi’s Malir area drew house’s attention to problem of gas load shedding being faced by people, particularly those of Karachi, during sehr and iftar.
He said though Prime Minister had already taken notice of situation, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) needed to be directed to resolve issue and provide uninterrupted supply during sehr and iftar.
Last week, SSGC said gas would be supplied to domestic consumers during holy month of Ramadan, but for limited hours move that irked consumers who complained of not getting enough of this essential fuel during mealtimes.
Utility had said that gas pressure would be low from 8am to 2:30pm as it was facing shortfall of 250 million mmbtu.
Gas utility added that consumers would face complete suspension or low pressure during rest of hours.
