Karachi: Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), announced the establishment of the Pakistan-EU Forum.
This initiative aims to enhance economic and trade relations between Pakistan and EU states, facilitating growth and development for the business community. The Forum's objectives include effective utilization of the Generalized System of Preferences Plus (GSP+) status to promote trade, investment, and economic cooperation. It will also foster business relationships between Pakistan and EU states, with a focus on Eastern Europe.
In addition, the Forum will interact with EU delegations to Pakistan, exchange firsthand information on economic activities, and maintain a conducive environment for trade and investment, President FPCCI added. The Forum will also conduct market research to identify new trade and economic areas of cooperation, and provide awareness and guidance to the SME sector on EU market requirements. The Pakistan-EU Forum will also interface with the "EU Business Network" to be launched by the EU Office in Islamabad on May 14, 2025. This collaboration is expected to further boost bilateral trade and investment between Pakistan and EU states.
