ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) rubbished reports of visit of high-level delegation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to Pakistan.

Addressing matter in post on X, FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said, “Stories regarding visit of high-level IAEA delegation to Pakistan are fake news! No IAEA official is currently visiting Pakistan nor are any policy talks planned in near future with IAEA.”

She said that IAEA DG had last visited country in February 2023 and FO had accordingly briefed media on occasion.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also responded to FO spokesperson’s clarification and said, “Fake news from an anchor based abroad clearly rebutted.

Such blatant lies and propaganda to harm state based on malicious intent will be responded to. Make no mistake.”

Prospects of any rapprochement between Pakistan and India are grim but situation can change after Indian elections, according to assessment of foreign office shared with new government.

Government has been getting briefings from different departments and ministries since it took charge. Foreign Office in its assessment, gave its input to government on foreign policy challenges including ties with India.
