FM Bilawal lauds NADRA’s efforts, launches automation of power of attorney for expats

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari formally launched automation of power of attorney for overseas Pakistanis at ceremony here. Addressing ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto termed it great achievement of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for facilitation of overseas Pakistanis and Pakistani missions abroad.
He expressed hope that this service will also be available at foreign office in future. Speaking Chairman NADRA Muhammad Tariq Malik said after launch, facility will be available in 197 countries for overseas Pakistanis.

He said launch of digital power of attorney will enable overseas Pakistanis to avail this facility online that would save their time and money as well.
He said online video facility has also been provided in this process to make record accessible in courts. He said for this purpose we have developed modern software.
He said all legal obstacles for this purpose were achieved with collaboration of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Overseas Pakistanis can now apply and obtain PoA from convenience of their homes, without having to physically visit Pakistan Foreign Mission which may be located at significant distance.

Meanwhile, addressing 42nd Specialised Diplomatic Course for officers of Foreign Service of Pakistan at Foreign Service Academy here Islamabad, he said our foreign policy has been guided by national interests, pragmatism, constructive engagement and amicably managing divergences and maximising commonalities of interests.
He said success of this policy is evident by recently held Resilient Pakistan Conference in Geneva where China, US, Islamic world and other countries expressed full support to Pakistan.
Referring to changes taking place at international level, he said this necessitates foreign services equipped more with skills and capacities to comprehend and adapt to current day geo political and geo economic realities.
He said Foreign Service Academy will continue to produce outstanding diplomats who will uphold tradition of excellence in representing Pakistan on global stage. Moreover, Bilawal Bhutto visited Syrian Embassy here and condoled with Syrian Ambassador death and destruction caused by recent earthquake. In his remarks, he said that Pakistan stands with government and people of Syria in this hour of difficulty. Bilawal Bhutto jotted down his impressions in guestbook.
