KARACHI: The flood fraud in the country is a windfall profit business of more than rupees five hundred billion for various classes of the country including bureaucrats, contractors, politicians, and land grabbers. It was disclosed by Engineer Zafar Iqbal in his recent post on social media that was also verified by a few water management analysts.

According to Zafar Iqbal soon after passing out of the civil service academy with his CSS, he chose the subject of “Water crisis in Pakistan” for essential research work. But it was an eye-opening disclosure when he came to learn that his country was wasting the precious natural water worth dollar 15 billion each year by draining out without any use into the sea.

He almost lost his senses after knowing about this huge catastrophe, Zafar said.

Therefore, he got the chance of interviewing the chairman of IRSA (Indus River System Authority) and inquired why this disaster was going unnoticed. The reply was very much astonishing that every year flood situation in the country was a windfall business for our bureaucrats, contractors, politicians, and land grabbers. Hence, it was the economy of more than Rs 500 billion for these classes to welcome the floods without fail. “But it was all off the record according to the chairman IRSA”, Engineer Zafar Iqbal added.

The water management analysts in the country informed that the current year’s unusually heavy volume of devastating floods was the immediate effect of the large-scale pitiless cutting of forest trees in Swat, Kalam, and other adjacent areas of KPK by the government of PTI. They further stated that the lack of dredging works in big dams’ reservoirs and not cleaning the river beds, and channels from north to south was also the vital reason for the yearly floods destructing lands, properties, and precious lives.
