Five Japanese nationals escape suicide attack, two terrorists killed

KARACHI: Five Japanese nationals survived suicide bomb attack on their vehicle, as police shot down gunman accompanying bomber, police spokesperson said. Attack occurred in Mansehra Colony area of city and injured two passersby.
Japanese were unhurt and have been moved to safe place in police custody, spokesperson Abrar Hussain Baloch said, although two passers-by and guard accompanying visitors suffered injuries.
"Police mobile unit, which was nearby, responded to attackers quickly and security guards of foreign guests responded immediately," Baloch added.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for attack from any militant group.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed inspector general of province to submit report on attack. He directed 'immediate arrangements' be made for security of foreign nationals in province.
He added that no anti-national element would be allowed to disrupt law and order "At any cost". He praised timely action of law enforcers for thwarting attack.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned suicide attack and commended police for averting any major loss of life.
Condemning attack, President Asif Ali Zardari said that terrorism will be rooted out from country and commended timely response of law enforcers.
