Five dead as jeep plunges into riverine in Skardu

Skardu: Five tourists died when jeep they were travelling in fell into riverine in Skardu’s Deosai area. Radio Pakistan quoted local police as saying that accident occurred after head-on collision with another vehicle coming from opposite side. Two other people were also injured in incident and have been shifted to local hospital and medical aid is being provided to them, according to local police.

All victims belonged to Quetta. Rescue 1122 teams were trying to retrieve bodies. On June 4, four passengers were killed when their truck fell into river in Neelum Valley’s Changan area when driver of cargo truck, which was travelling from Batrasi to Mandkaro lost control of vehicle and plunged into deep gorge.

Rescue teams reached spot and initiated rescue operation. It was reported that bodies of deceased were pulled from river and shifted to nearby hospital. Due to poor attentiveness of traffic vehicle department officials, system of checking fitness of vehicles is not upto standard, experts opined.
