FIR registered over ‘threatening letters’ to eight IHC judges

ISLAMABAD: First information report (FIR) was registered over suspected threatening letters sent to Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges.
FIR was registered on complaint of IHC clerk Qadeer Ahmed at Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Police Station. In his complaint, Ahmed said that he distributed at least eight letters placed in envelopes addressed to IHC judges. However, court employee Qamar Khursheed in telephone call warned him against opening envelopes, saying that they contained chemical, he added.
According to complainant, all of readers at court were then advised to not open envelopes. He said, “White powder” was found in envelopes after four of them were opened later. Ahmed said that contents in envelopes had critcised justice system while referring to “Tehreek-e-Namoos-e-Pakistan”.
Court sources disclosed that along with powder, letters also contain threatening signs. As per sources within court, letter was written by woman named Resham, with no specific address indicated.
